Meet Tremayne (Tre) Smith, a highly accomplished Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) with over 20 years of experience in healthcare cybersecurity leadership. With a deep understanding of healthcare technology, information security, and compliance regulations, Tre has been instrumental in building and leading teams that safeguard healthcare organizations from cyber threats.
Tre began his career in information technology as a software engineer before joining OSU Wexner Medical Center as a Senior Information Security Engineer tasked with developing the organization’s HIPAA Security Rule compliance program. He soon became the Director of Information Security for OSU Wexner Medical Center, where he continued to build a comprehensive security program that has evolved to meet today’s cyber threats in his role as the Chief Information Security and HIPAA Security Officer.
As a CISO, Tre has implemented security frameworks, developed policies and procedures, and led incident response efforts to mitigate potential breaches. He has also established strong partnerships with external stakeholders, including other security leaders within the University, vendors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure alignment with industry best practices.
Tre is a thought leader in the healthcare cybersecurity space and has spoken at several industry conferences. He is also an active member of various security and healthcare associations.
In his spare time, Tre enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with his family, while also staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in technology and cybersecurity.
